REvil ransomware gang websites disappear – Is it the end?

The payment and blog websites of the famous Russian Ransomware gang “REvil” have suddenly become unreachable and have disappeared from the internet after the gang recently targeted Kaseya and demanded for a huge ransom of $70 million.

REvil has been behind many big Ransomware attacks demanding for huge ransoms. One such example is the JBS (the world’s largest processor of fresh beef) ransomware attack in May 2021.

Many believe that this has occurred due to the ongoing conversations between the US and Russia over increasing number of Ransomware attacks.

In the recent past, the REvil ransomware gang have been involved in many high-profile ransomware attacks that have been targeting US organisations.

Is it really the end of Ransomware?

REvil is one of the most popular ransomware gangs and has been behind many big ransomware attacks. The sudden disappearance of their websites has bought some questions to the front of everyone’s minds whether it is the end of the REvil ransomware or will there be something new and more significant coming soon.

It has been seen in the past that groups will seem to shut down their operations and then return under totally new identities with even more horrifying techniques to attack the victims.

It might not be the end of REvil but an end for now.
