LockBit ransomware group claim a cyber attack against ION Group

On the 31st of January 2023, ION Group, a UK-based software company that provides products to financial institutions, banks, and corporations for trading, investment management, and market analytics, disclosed that they had been targeted by a cyber attack that impacted their ION Cleared Derivatives.

As a result of the attack, all the affected servers are disconnected which led to a knock-on effect on major clients of ION Group’s services within the United States and Europe as the clients were forced to switch to manual processing of the trades, causing significant delays.

On the 2nd of February 2023, the LockBit ransomware group added a new entry to their data leak site that listed the ION Group where they claimed to have stolen data during the intrusion and threaten to publish the files on the 4th of February 2023.
