Recently, the Knauf Group announced they had experienced a cyberattack which resulted in disruptions to their business operations, and ultimately led to its global IT team being forced to shut down all IT systems to isolate the incident. The announcement revealed that the cyberattack took place on the night of Wednesday 29th of June 2022.
“We are currently working heavily to mitigate the impact to our customers and partners – as well as to plan a safe recovery. However, we apologize for any inconvenience or delays in our delivery processes, that may occur,” – Knauf Group announcement.
Knauf Group also stated they are in the process of conducting a forensic investigation as well as incident response, and remediation. Even though the announcement by Knauf Group doesn’t reveal any further details about the incident, the Black Basta ransomware gang has claimed responsibility for the attack via a data leak posting on their extortion site on Saturday 20th of July 2022. At this current time, the ransomware gang has published 20% of the files they allegedly exfiltrated during the attack.
